Jefferson County Librarians Attended Atriuum Training
- "I just wanted to say thank you for working so hard on my data. I really enjoyed the training yesterday also. You probably already know this, but I was in favor of Destiny when we started looking for software companies. It was not because I didn't think you had a great product, but because I had used their old Circ Plus in my old system - Midfield. I just was more familiar with them and knew what to expect. I just want you to know that I am very pleased with Book Systems, and I appreciate all the trouble you have and are going through to get us up and running before school starts. The software is absolutely wonderful and, I'm happy with our decision to go with Book Systems. I'm looking very forward to working with you throughout this process."
- Here are comments about the training:
- "Very upbeat and exciting"
- "The hands-on and walking through the program, as well as the excellent handbook to refer to later."
- "Lots of assistance."
- "The trainer answered each question."
- "We were not rushed."
- "We had hands on computer training."
- "Enthusiasm of the trainer."
- "Being able to input our own information to our system during the training."
- "The training manual is wonderful."

You know that I LOVE everything about Book Systems!! It amazes me that I am already so proficient at using a program that I first laid eyes on only 6 months ago. That really says something for the ease of use and for the quality of the training we received. The more I learn about Atriuum, the more I love it! Some of my favorite things are: the customizability of the program and reports, the ease of transition from one part of the program to another, the personal and prompt customer service, and Book Systems willingness to make the product what I need it to be. I can honestly say that in the 30 years that I have been in education, I have NEVER had any company so willing to help me make a program successful. That is worth more than I can tell you. I have called Suzanne more than once and asked if a certain feature could be added or changed, and she was quick to have the program adapted when possible. The programmers and staff and very open to suggestions from those of us actually using their product. I think that it is quite rare in today's marketplace. Every person with whom I have every talked has been great. Aside from a great product, the people that make up the Book Systems family are the true gem in the crown of the company. No librarian should be without this program and this company!!!!

This spring, our county reviewed many different automation systems and decided to implement Atriuum as our new circulation system. During the summer, we went through the process of completing our conversions. I was a little on the nervous side about what my collection would look like when I returned from the summer break. Upon my return, I spoke with Suzanne Burton about the clean up process that I had added onto my conversion. Atriuum has powerful reporting and some of my items got assigned to the Undefined Item Report Class. While we were on the phone, Suzanne reclassified those items to the correct Item Classes. I was very pleased and felt like the conversion process went over without a hitch.
So far, our implementation throughout the county has been smooth. Just like any transition, we have had to work through our little problems and get use to something new. After speaking to some of the other media specialists in the county, we feel Atriuum has provided us reporting capabilities that were not available to us in our previous library automation system, Athena. You can render a report for just about anything you could possibly imagine. In fact, the daily statistical report is my favorite. With another software company, if I forgot to check on it daily, it would accumulate and you would just be able to know what you did for the month. With Atriuum, I can go back and pull up any day, week, or month.
I am using the self check out and self check in procedure. This has made my life absolutely wonderful! I have touch screens and my students are checking their own books in and out. This has freed me up to be able to conduct classes and help students find the library materials they are looking for. I have not had any problems with students using the self check feature that is built into Atriuum. My students are thrilled to feel like they are in control when they come into the library.
The few times that I have called technical support I have kept a folder with the date, time, problem, solution, and case number. I e-mailed a problem I was having with creating a report and within ten minutes I had a response. So far, I do not have any negative reviews about the technical support I have received.

We are simply delighted with the merits of the Atriuum Web-based solution. It is proving to be a quantum leap over the server-based program we were using, by providing total library automation, including cataloging, MARC editing, analysis, etc. Additionally, this cost-saving solution will allow all of our school media centers and the IMC to be managed and operated on a single, dedicated Windows Server.

I was extremely pleased with Book Systems' Atriuum program. It had
everything I was looking for in an automation program. Our technology
department was very pleased with the Web-based system which made their job
so much easier to set up and maintain. Our administration was very happy
that our elementary schools could do their own retrospective conversion
themselves. Cataloging is a snap using eZCAT! The few bumps in the road
converting our old system with Atriuum were quickly and easily solved by the
technology crew at Book Systems. The conversion was practically seamless.
Customer support has been very helpful and has walked me through any
problems I have had. I feel like I'm talking to friends when I call! The
salespeople (John and Carol Boyd) were outstanding from their presentation
to ironing out any issues we had. We feel Book Systems and Atriuum is the
best library automation company and program out there!

Our school system just started using Atriuum in January 2008, and I am now beginning to understand what a powerful automation tool we have our hands on! So many ways to access so much information about my collection as well as catalog new items with such ease allows me to better use limited shelf space (K4 through 8th grade - ten grade levels!!) and get the most up-to-date resources into the hands of my students faster than ever.

Book Systems support has been wonderful. They spent a lot of time working with us on our patron information. We asked a lot of questions and all of them were answered. We were able to make our librarians very happy!

Having used Concourse and eZcat for several years, the next logical step was to provide our catalog to our patrons at home through the Internet. WebOPAC is the best product I've seen available for the money, especially for small libraries with tight budgets. It's user-friendly... and easy to navigate. From an administrator's viewpoint, it's easy to configure and maintain. I would highly recommend this product to any library looking to provide even better service to their patrons.

Here are some comments from my wonderful staff....
"I love the fact that our complete collection is at our fingertips. This is especially helpful for new faculty and new students."
"I have more time for other tasks thanks to the quick cataloging feature. Fast access is a plus!"
"OPAC is great too and our students like it's visual feature; OPAC Snapshot is perfect for our library."
"Atriuum is easy to search by subject; this helps with ready reference, patron use and for collection development."
"It's easy to generate reports for our special collections."
For me, Atriuum exceeded my expectations; customer service is a priority with us and Atriuum is a leader in professionally meeting its' clients needs. Your assistance and training during the transition was outstanding and your ongoing access has developed into a productive partnership.
Thanks to Atriuum, we provide more efficient service, offer more options , and save money.

I LOVE the software. I've been using both Booktracks and Atriuum and find them pretty easy to use. I like that you can import the data into Excel without having to convert it from a database file to an Excel file before you could even begin to use it. I have used the patron reports to create my class rosters and even the list of students needed by the photographer for our school pictures. This took very little time compared to using our previous software. Another feature I am using is reserves. I can have a book reserved by someone and then when it comes in, immediately see who reserved it and get it out to them without having to do as many steps. The sounds are also wonderful. In our previous software, a book would scan, but you had no indication if it actually checked in or out. The students love the "fairy chimes" when they have gotten their books.

"We needed to replace Spectrum and were happy to find Atriuum - a student-friendly online catalog with a budget-friendly price! The conversion team at Book Systems was great to deal with during the entire migration process. The reporting, cataloging, and inventory functions allow us much better use of our data, giving us an upgrade we really appreciate."

Book Systems was the right choice for library software for Illinois Baptist College. Illinois Baptist College is a college designed to train Christians for church ministry. Book Systems had the right size and right choices for our library to pick and choose the best options for our library. Book Systems' Concourse is the right choice for a small or large library. We are very pleased with Concourse.

I am writing to tell you what an outstanding job Tomas did today on my
technical support call. He was definitely very knowledgeable about the
product and extremely professional. I was not only impressed with his
product knowledge about Atriuum, but his genuine interested in my school
and the students here at GMS. Please convey to him that I was pleased
and I hope to be able to talk to him again on future calls. Everyone I
have spoken to from Suzanne, Ann, Tomas to the rep at LAMP last week
have all been extremely helpful and very friendly. As a media
specialist, I have many opportunities to talk with technical support
departments and Book Systems has one of the best I have ever spoken with.

Sioux Center Public Library Sioux Center, IADavid Netz Library Director

In August, the Sioux Center Public Library staff was very happy with how smoothly & quickly our catalog data was transferred to the servers and network in the new library building. We closed for service in the evening, and by the next morning, our network administrator, working with Book Systems support, had Atriuum up and running in the new building, ready to go without any glitches or loss of data.
We also appreciate being able to add extra content such as images, media clips, scanned documents, URLS, and book covers to bibliographic records, to offer a richer search experience for patrons using the OPAC. For example, we've included images of prints in our art print collection, enabling it to be browsed online. The OPAC integrates well with our website, and many of our patrons enjoy the ability to log in from home and renew or reserve items.

Since I am a staff of one, I needed efficient, time-saving software. As a Concourse / eZcat customer, the next logical step for our library was to move online to Atriuum. I highly recommend the training; although intense, it was excellent. With the training, the training manual and excellent tech support, I.ve been able to make a smooth transition to a virtual library. My favorite features of Atriuum: the Quick Cataloging, the Custom OPAC Links and the fact that I can work from both school and home.

I am completely thrilled with my new library system. It works in a logical fashion, which I appreciate. I particularly love the cataloging feature; being able to just type in an ISBN and have all the information pop up is still amazing to me. Carol was a patient and "user friendly" teacher... I learned what I needed, quickly and efficiently. I would not hesitate to recommend this system to any library, large or small.

"I do so love your product and everyone that I have had contact with has been most gracious and patient with me.
Kylan was amazing! I have never heard a better trainer.... I know we all benefited from his presence in the library. His calmness and Patience when one of us was lost was extremely helpful to the entire learning process.... The very best part, however, and this is big to me, is that my staff listened, learned and retained just about everything that Kylan covered. An awesome feat, indeed!"

The Book Systems team was super-helpful during our
conversion. Whenever we encountered problems (and of
course, there will always be problems during a conversion!))
they bent over backwards to help us. No question was too
trivial, and no problem insurmountable.
Our trainer was excellent, knowledgeable, courteous - and
incredibly patient!
He made everything look so easy! And of course by the time
we went live, we were scrambling to remember everything he
had shown us. But that's where the Tech support team kicks
in. They're always there - and always able to answer our
questions.
The feature of Atriuum that I most appreciate is the quick
cataloging. We scan the ISBN number and ALL the information
pops into place instantly. All our new records look
consistent, and we no longer worry about misspellings.

In August, 2008, I became the director of the Guntersville Public Library.
I inherited Book Systems as an integrated library system. The library was
still using Concourse. The first thing that people told me was that they
wanted to be able to use the library online. Book Systems was great through
the whole conversion process. The cost was reasonable and the upgrade went
seamlessly. Book Systems' employees were well-trained, pleasant, and
helpful. I have received excellent customer service and a product that
works day in and day out. For small libraries, it is an excellent choice.

I have been very impressed with the customer service we've received...it's so nice to call and talk to a real person
immediately! We just switched from Athena to Atriuum in January and have been very pleased with
the outstanding technical support, and the responsiveness of the company to suggested enhancements.

Cullman County Public Library Cullman, ALMax Hand Library Director

The Cullman County Public Library System uses Atriuum by Book Systems, and
was one of the first libraries in the country to do so. We like it because
it is more affordable than a lot of the ILS out there, and it does what it
is supposed to without a lot of bells and whistles. Atriuum has made it
easy and affordable to expand library automation to our small, previously
manual-system branch libraries. Support is always prompt whenever there is
a problem, and they are always open to suggestions to make the system
better. Coming from another system where it took a rocket scientist to
figure out how to run reports, I find the reports interface is very easy to
use. I especially like the EZCat cataloging software. As a sometimes
cataloger, I find that it makes the chore of finding and editing
bibliographic records a great deal easier, eliminating the need to look up
in a print manual what rarely used tags and subfield delimiters are. I'd
recommend Atriuum by Book Systems to anyone.`
